During May and June Mt Austin Public School, Wagga Wagga and Islington Public School from Newcastle both benefitted from Bundanon’s Adopt a School program, whereby children from disadvantaged schools have the opportunity to come into residence at Bundanon at no cost to their families or school.
Both schools thoroughly enjoyed their stay and hope to come again. On 3 June Bundanon’s Education staff visited a follow up exhibition of artworks produced by Mt Austin students, proudly on show in their new school hall in Wagga Wagga. 40% of students from Mt Austin are Indigenous identified and a large proportion of students participating from Islington are recent refugees.
This program is supported by Arts NSW ConnectEd funding and private donations.
