Bundanon Siteworks Associate Alex Kershaw has recently been in residence to interview local community members about their memories of Bundanon. The Siteworks commissioned project involves making an experimental documentary that focuses on people with significant connection to the Shoalhaven River.
Among others, Alex brought back to Bundanon members of the Warren family, past residents of the property who still live in the area. They shared their photo albums and provided information about the old pool room attached to the Homestead and the slab huts which surrounded the heritage gardens.
During the 2010 Siteworks Laboratory, Alex spent time exploring the Shoalhaven River in a boat, interviewing people he met on the river and the foreshore – Indigenous owners, fishermen, holiday makers, emergency service workers and environmentalists. Alex will create a document of life on the Shoalhaven which allows participants' stories to unfold in the present rather than being told, extending the play between the planned and the unplanned, the rational and the libidinal, the real and the fictional.
