"It is a privilege to be given the opportunity to present a lecture dedicated to my dear friend, Arthur Boyd.
The Australian High Commission's inaugral Arthur Boyd Lecture will be presented by Barry Humpries AO CBE, on 6 August.
The Arthur Boyd Lecture is an annual event hosted by the Australia High Commission designed to examine the international impact of Australian art and culture. The aim of the lecture is to explore the changing landscape of Australian art and the evolving cultural relationship with the United Kingdom.
Boyd arrived in London in 1959 and spent almost half his life living and working as an artist in England.
The 2008 lecture titled, Recollections of Arthur Boyd, will focus on Boyd's remarkable talent and look at what influence living in the UK had on his work.
The lecture will be held at the Australian High Commission, Australia House, Strand, London WC2B 4LA on Wednesday 6 August at 6.30pm. Doors open 6pm.
