Arthur & Yvonne Boyd Education Centre, Riversdale

The Boyd Education Centre is set on Bundanon Trust's magnificent Riversdale property overlooking the Shoalhaven River. The Centre was designed by internationally celebrated Australian architect Glenn Murcutt in association with Reg Lark and Wendy Lewin. It is the hub of the Bundanon Trust’s Education Programs providing residential accommodation for 32 visitors at a time and a multi-purpose space used for catering, dining, and arts workshops.

HALL

The hall with stunning views over the Shoalhaven River caters for a diverse range of activities including dining, workshops, seminars, conferences, performances and rehearsals. Lighting, power points, trestle tables, chairs. A piano is available for musicians by request. A large undercover area adjacent to the hall provides a large open air space suited for multiple purposes.

BEDROOMS

The accommodation wing of the Boyd Education Centre at Riversdale provides for 32 visitors in eight rooms each with four beds and shared bathroom facilities. The rooms may also be configured into 16 twin room spaces. There is an additional overflow area on the verandah of a cottage for large school groups. The maximum group number is 38. For school groups, beds have a bottom sheet and a pillow case on the pillow. Students need to bring a top sheet/doona cover or a sleeping bag and their own towel. For adult groups linen and towels are provided.

MORDANT FAMILY LIBRARY

The Mordant Family Library, located in an original cottage, may be used with prior arrangement whilst you are in residence. It houses a TV with DVD/VCR player and a small selection of educational DVDs and videos. The Library also displays an exhibition of Arthur Boyd paintings and contains a range of reading resources and reference material.

KITCHEN and CATERING

The well-equipped kitchen area has electric ovens, a dishwasher, electrical appliances, crockery, cutlery, and glassware. Catered or self-catered options are available. If the catered option has been selected, all meals will be provided while in residence. Our caterer provides an excellent standard of meals. Please note that all meals have an element of self-service. Catering staff will be on site to prepare & assist at meal times. Filtered drinking water is available in the kitchen. We encourage students to use drink bottles they have brought with them. Special dietary needs are catered for with prior notice.

ACCESS AND TRANSPORT

There are two separate properties which are used for our educational programs. Bundanon is the location of the Homestead, Arthur Boyd’s studio, the Artist-in-Residence complex and the Study Centre. Arrival at Bundanon is from 9.00am and departure of all visitors by 4.00pm. Riversdale is the location of the Boyd Education Centre and accommodation. On the day of departure from Riversdale, groups must vacate rooms by 9.00am and leave the property by 1pm. A car park enables buses to be easily loaded and unloaded. Trolleys are provided for transporting heavier items from the bus to the accommodation and hall.

Groups are responsible for their own travel and transport arrangements. A single axle vehicle is needed to access the Riversdale driveway due to the steep grade and narrowness of the road. This restricts access at this location to 24 seater buses or similar. A transfer may be arranged with Stuarts Coaches to Riversdale.

Bundanon recommends the use of Stuarts Coaches as their rates are competitive and they understand the logistics of our two properties. All travel arrangements are to be made directly with Stuarts Coaches
