Riversdale - The Arthur and Yvonne Boyd Education Centre

BUNDANON

The Bundanon Artist in Residence complex, designed by Sydney architects Tonkin Zulaikha, was opened by Arthur Boyd in 1998. Operating 52 weeks a year, the site hosts between 65 – 80 artists in residence during a single year. It offers studio space and accommodation for up to nine individuals in single or shared accommodation. They consist of:

Alec and Helene Gonski Studio
Apartment consists of one bedroom, with a queen bed, a living room & a bathroom. Kitchen is shared with Sherman. The 44sqm studio is in a converted 19th century barn, which is separate from the apartment.

Hymie Sherman Studio
Apartment consists of two bedrooms, with a queen bed & a sofa bed, a living room & a bathroom. Kitchen is shared with Gonski. The 44sqm studio is in a converted 19th century barn, which is separate from the apartment.

Fern Studio
Apartment consists of one bedroom, with a queen size bed & a bathroom. Kitchen is shared with Freedman. The 42sqm studio adjoins the apartment with a sitting room. The Fern apartment & studio can accommodate an artist with a disability.  

Sylvia Freedman Studio
Apartment consists of one bedroom, with a queen size bed & a bathroom. Kitchen is shared with Fern. The 34sqm studio adjoins the apartment with a sitting room.

The Writers Cottage
Self-contained cottage consists of two bedrooms, one with a double bed & the other with a king single, bathroom & a living room.

The Musicians Cottage (which can also support residencies of artists with children)
Self-contained cottage consists of three bedrooms, two with a queen beds & the other with a king single, bathroom and living room. A Yamaha baby grand piano, which is tuned regularly, is located in the sitting room.

Access to Steinway grand piano in the Bundanon Homestead can be arranged on request.

These facilities have all been recently renovated and refurbished.

The Oscar and Mary Ramsay Study Centre, a useful resource for research, is also located at the Bundanon site.

EQUIPMENT

Bundanon All studios at Bundanon contain standard work tables, chairs, easels and a standard sink. A printing press is housed in either the Sherman or Gonski studio and is available for use by artists in residence. The Writers & Musicians Cottages do not have adjoining studio space.

IT & COMPUTERS

Both the Bundanon & Riversdale properties have wireless satellite broadband. A computer is provided for communal use in Sherman Apartment to enable artists to send & receive emails. Please bring your own laptop for intensive use. We recommend artists bring laptops with wireless capabilities to connect to satellite broadband. We do not have a staff member trained in IT on site. Please arrange your own IT support beofre you arrive at Bundanon. Following is the information you will require: Outgoing mail server address is: mail.activ8.net.au. Mac users particularly need to add this address to their accounts. Without this you can receive emails via wireless but cannot send. Due to our isolated location, our connection can be interrupted at times. Accounts for large media downloads need to be approved. If you experience IT issues please advise a staff member or contact the Program Officer.

TELEPHONE & MOBILE PHONES

There is very limited mobile phone coverage on site at Bundanon & it is not to be relied upon. Access to a telephone is in the apartment/cottage, with free local calls. STD & IDD calls require phone cards. Please purchase your phone card before you arrive. The Riversdale site has mobile reception.
