The Australian Ballet and Book Week

Over 1,100 school children from 19 primary and secondary schools in the Shoalhaven participated in the Regional Schools Program during August and September.

Book Week at Riversdale was an outstanding success with artist in residence Terry Denton presenting two illustrated talks to primary school children at Riversdale. In the secondary school workshop conducted at Bundanon, Terry engaged gifted and talented students from three local high schools in the creation of an artist’s book.

In the third year of our partnership with The Australian Ballet, Bundanon Trust’s education team hosted a successful Out There with The Australian Ballet program during late August and early September. Over 800 primary school children benefitted from participation in complementary dance/movement and visual arts workshops which demonstrated links between the arts in the curriculum.

During the Talking Doing Dancers presentations, the children viewed the dance presenters demonstrate and discuss a range of dance techniques including classical ballet and engaged in kinetic and rhythmic exercises. The children were engaged in learning by viewing outstanding examples of head pieces and costumes from the collection of the Australian Ballet. They were amazed by exercises and repertoire from classical ballet and contemporary dance genres.
