Bernadette Balkus

Balkus returned to Australia in 1997, after eight years in America, where she was offered Artistic Directorship of the Australian Women's Music Festival. Since then Balkus has been involved with Musica Viva, collaborating with, amongst others, brother Michael Kieran-Harvey who performed at Bundanon in 2007, the Sydney Soloists and continues to perform as a soloist at selected music festivals and events. 

The Collective (Christina Leonard, Sophie Cole and Daniel Yeadon), of which Balkus and Leonard are the core members, is a newly formed ensemble dedicated to the commissiong, perofrmance and promotion of music in new and exciting frameworks. This is the first duo collaboration from the ensemble.

While in residece at Bundanon, Balkus and Leonard will work on this project which offers them the opportunity to explore their diverse talents and a wide range of music styles.
