Boyd Family Ceramics

My father, Merric Boyd, had an extremely unusual, passionate, creative spirit and this energy, rhythm and life flows through his pottery and drawings.” Arthur Boyd, 1989

To coincide in July 2009 with the 12th National Ceramic Conference and the National Ceramic Festival to be held in Sydney and regional NSW and staged by the Australian Ceramics Triennial, Bundanon is intending to launch the tour of a new exhibition Boyd Ceramics (working title) at a venue in Sydney.

This exhibition will raise awareness of the scope and excellence of ceramic practice in Australia in the 20th century and will contextualise the work of the Boyds in the broader field of contemporary art. The exhibition will showcase the work of Merric Boyd, the father of Australian pottery, and will reveal his influence on the work of other Boyd family members.

With over 350 ceramic works by Boyd family members in the Bundanon Collection including the strongest Merric Boyd collection in Australia, Boyd Ceramics will be a comprehensive insight into this amazing artistic dynasty.

Exhibition and tour details to be confirmed
