BOYDS IN PRINT was a selling exhibition of works jointly published and owned by Janie and Max Miller and the Boyd family. The exhibition displayed a selection of prints by two generations of the Boyd’s; Arthur and his brother David and son Jamie. All three artists are celebrated for their painting however they are also successful printmakers.
Arthur Boyd has worked regularly in the medium of printmaking since the sixties. During the nineties he worked on numerous prints with the printmaker Max Miller. Max worked closely with Arthur both at Bundanon and the Boyd’s property in Tuscany, Italy.
For an artist best known for his landscapes, Arthur’s prints are an ideal way to explore his great interest in mythological and biblical subjects. In his prints he brilliantly reinterprets these subjects and frequently sets them in the Shoalhaven landscape.
The prints by David Boyd are whimsical and humerous and show his love of colour.
Jamie Boyd is based in England where he has lived since moving there with his parents in 1959. Jamie however still has strong connections to Australia and returns to Bundanon annually to be inspired by the landscape of the Shoalhaven and continue his creative work.
