Bundanon to the World

Bundanon’s artists in residence alumni have been featured in various publications and doing some pretty special things since they left – here’s a snapshot of what they’ve been up to.

Any space on earth can be transformed by poetry, says Johanna Featherstone, Director of the Red Room Company and initiator of its Clubs and Societies Project

At Sydney Writer’s Festival the Red Room Company held their inaugural Clubs and Societies (fictional) AGM. Bundanon’s Arts Program Manager, Regina Heilmann, and poet Jonathan Hill introduced the audience to Club2540 – Bundanon’s partner project with the Red Room and Nowra’s drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre Oolong House. Other clubs on show were the Dorkbots  "people doing strange things with electricity”; Wollongong Illawarra Roller Derby; the Astronomical Society for NSW and the Wayside Chapel.

North American-based artist Scott Hocking (who was in residence in 2010) was featured in ABC’s Lateline in May for his work in finding beauty and opportunity in the ruins of Detroit. Read the transcript or watch the special here.

Siteworks associate Garth Paine’s commission residency has been featured on Electronic Music Foundation's site, Ear to the Earth – the post can be viewed here.

Composer/musician Linda Kouvaras’s Bundanon Sonata for Violin and Piano, which she wrote while in residence in December 2010, was premiered last week by Rothschild-Riddle Duo, in their concert presented by the Lyrebird Music Society, at the Wyselaskie Auditorium, University of Melbourne.
