Irish video and performance artist Darragh O Callaghan and composer-performer and transmedia artist David Sudmalis will collaborate to produce a new work to be exhibited in London (GV Arts) in 2012. MUCKER: a performance installation comprising hung embroidered pigskin, sound and performance. At the centre of the installation space amongst shredded and dismembered hung pigskin, the performer (Darragh) stands still with a pigskin balaclava over her head. Embroidered into the balaclava are fragments of letters written to her from her father while he was in prison - hair from Darragh’s body becomes the thread for sewing. Over time, the hair making each sewn letter is slowly and obsessively unpicked until the textual form is rendered incomprehensible.
