FAQ's - Artist in Residence application

Do I have to submit support material?

Yes. Support material assists the committee understand each artist's background and project proposal. It is important to follow the instructions on the guidelines and application form. Support material is copied electronically and each committee member assessing your particular art form will receive a copy of your application and support material on a USB stick.

There are only 5 spaces on the form to upload support material but I have 12 images? How does this work?

You can zip your images into one folder and upload it or you can repeat the process ie upload 5 images, then another 5 etc. The support material is uploaded to a sharefile website to help us manage the support material. It is very important to label your support material correctly for identification purposes. eg Arthur_Boyd_1, Arthur_Boyd_2.

Can I use my website as my primary support material?

No. The committee may not be accessing the internet while assessing applications. Please remember to select the best examples of your work as support material.

Can I type my proposal description on a separate file?

No. We would like to keep all applicants information uniform in our database.

I am a wheelchair user- how will I go at Bundanon?

The Fern Studio and apartment is accessible for wheelchair users. If you would like to take a look at our Access Audit, which was undertaken in 2008 please contact Arts Program staff.

Can my partner/friends/children/muse/pet accompany me on my residency?

Visitors, including children of resident artists, are not permitted to stay on the Trust properties due to limited resources (such as water) and the need to respect the solitude of fellow artists. Artists with exceptional circumstances can apply to the CEO for special consideration.  The Bundanon Trust properties are a wildlife refuge. Unless your animal is an assistance dog or a guide dog you cannot bring your animal with you.

I work in more than one artistic discipline- can I choose more than one?

We ask that individual artists select one discipline only- please select your strongest art form. This will ensure your application is assessed by the committee members who have the best knowledge of your discipline area. Collaborating groups, please select all the disciplines that are relevant.

My CV is over two pages long- can I submit that?

Please alter your CV to cover the highlights in no more than two pages. Group applications- please condense your team's biographies to no more than two pages.

How many artists apply for Bundanon Residencies?

It varies year to year, usually running into the hundreds. The success rate is roughly one in four.

Does Bundanon Trust have scholarships/bursaries/stipends on offer to successful artists?

No we don't. Australian artists should refer to  the Australia Council website. Many State funding agencies support  artists coming to Bundanon. You should contact  the agency in the state where you live eg  Arts SA, Arts NSW, Arts Victoria

What does 'accommodation subsidy' mean?

If you have indicated on the application form that you would like to be considered for the accommodation subsidy, the cost for you to stay at Bundanon may be reduced or waived.  Bundanon's capacity to support you will depend upon our own resources from public and private funding and on how many successful artists there are staying in any given year.
