Our partnership with Bomaderry High, The Art of Learning, completed its twelve month cycle with a three day residential program for the participating gifted and talented students from year seven and eight.
The students worked with artists in residence Garth Paine, Susan Buret, Nina Fraser (UK) and Katy Wilson (UK) to develop an independent project. Students created site based sculptures; choreographed and performed dances; created musical compositions and soundscapes; wrote stories and poems and designed textile based artworks. This program has been an outstanding success, as staff member Tim Montgomery said:
“The best thing about this program is the cooperation and sharing of expertise between Bomaderry High School and Bundanon Trust. The program has allowed students to draw on the skills and experience of artists to develop their own ideas.
The beauty, history, setting and expertise have melded to produce an understanding of the inspirations of the artists and given permission for students to follow their ideas. There is an art to learning and it has been developed in this place. Time to think and evaluate ideas is a precious commodity. This time has been used to follow ideas to completion.”
