Circus Monoxide is a contemporary Australian circus that has been touring Australia, connecting with communities and producing professional circus performance since 1996.  In 2012, Monoxide aim to begin creative development on a new show entitled ‘But Why?' which aims to focus on the abstract changes and identity shifts that occur with motherhood; how a woman's identity is shaped and defined by the new life she has created. Does birth mark a new beginning for a mother's identity or an evolution of self? Does personal identity remain?  'But Why?' will range from hilariously funny to insightful and questioning, using high level circus arts to interpret the voices of mothers as recorded in verbatim interviews. 'But Why?' will see a collaboration between some of Australia's top circus performers with celebrated playwright and author, Vanessa Badham.
