National Recognition for Friends of Bundanon

Three artist in residence alumni and two Board members of Bundanon Trust have been appointed in the Queen’s Birthday Order of Australia presentations. We would like to congratulate the following people on their recognition and service to the arts community.

The Trust’s Chairman, Shane Simpson, was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) “for service to the law and to the arts through leading roles in intellectual property and entertainment law, and as a contributor to a range of cultural organisations”.

Bundanon Board member Geoff Ainsworth was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for his contribution to “visual and performing arts through the promotion and support of contemporary art, and to the community”.

Richard Leplastrier was appointed as an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for his distinguished service to architecture, “particularly through the application of environmentally sensitive design, and as an educator and mentor”. Richard has been in residence at Riversdale every year for the past 11 years as a tutor in the Glenn Murcutt Masterclass.

Jonathan Mills has been made an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) ''for distinguished service to the performing arts as a composer and director of international festivals, through the promotion of cultural exchange, and to public debate''. Jonathan collaborated at Bundanon with fellow artist in residence, the late Dorothy Porter.

Chris Wallace-Crabbe was appointed as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for his ''service to the arts as a leading poet, critic and educator”. Chris has had two residencies at Bundanon.
