Outreach

Launched in 2005, the Bundanon OUTREACH program was originally designed to address the needs of youth at risk within the Shoalhaven community, through engagement with creative arts education.

With a focus on Indigenous youth, the program has nurtured ongoing involvement with arts education providing young people with authentic and meaningful learning experiences that engage their minds, hearts and bodies. Youth engagement in Bundanon OUTREACH contributes significantly to their resilience, sense of self belief, a sense of well being and community.

Creating partnerships strengthens community identity and local culture; OUTREACH has developed ongoing relationships with a wide range of local community service organizations since it’s inception in 2005. Through Youth Pathways, a Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations initiative, over 100 young people at risk of disengaging with their school and learning communities have accessed creative arts workshops at the Bundanon properties.

“Such things as access, participation and integration, valued status, decision making and choice are important values to us all, and I have found, that while participating in the Bundanon OUTREACH program, these were provided for our clientele as a matter of course, a natural part of the atmosphere we found ourselves encompassed by.”
