SITEWORKS UPDATE

Our environmental/arts project SiteWorks continues to evolve.

SiteWorks invites selected arts practitioners, scientists and experts to meet and stay at Bundanon, responding to the site through the lens of their specific discipline and areas of interest. This will lead to a series of conversations and responses, laying foundations for a cluster of collaborative site specific projects in 2011 and 2012.

The list of confirmed participants to date are:

Lesley Head (Earth and Environmental Scientist), Jim Wallis (Land Care Specialist), Heidrun Lohr (Photographer), r e a (Indigenous Media Artist - pictured), Diego Bonetto (Interdisciplinary Artist), Lyndal Jones (Multi Media Artist), Alex Kershaw (Photographer/Media artist), Angharad Wynne-Jones (Director/Curator), Tess De Quincey (Choreographer/Dancer), Barbara Campbell (Media artist), Nick Keys (installation artist and writer), Richard Scott Moore (local Indigenous artist), Garth Paine (Senior Lecturer in Music Technology at UWS and director of VIPRE), Ivars Reinfelds (research scientist for the NSW Office of Water) Peta Strachan (Indigenous dancer), Keith Armstrong (collaborative, hybrid, new media works), Ross Gibson (Professor of Contemporary Arts at the University of Sydney) Nigel Helliyer (Sound/Sculpture) and Tim Cohen (Environmental Scientist). Key Dates

  • • In August, the University of Wollongong will host an event for academics, participants and interested persons outlining the framework and premise for SiteWorks 2011, reflecting on Ten Trenches which took place in 2009 and looking forward to a SiteWorks vision for 2012
  • • From 13-15 August, there will be an opportunity for core participants to walk-the-site and skill share.
  • • 19 -24 September - research and development laboratory on site at Riversdale
  • • Two day colloquium – Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 September will include visits and discussions at the selected sites at Bundanon on the Saturday and public presentations at Riversdale on the Sunday
