WOMBATS

Wombats are abundant throughout the Bundanon Trust properties. At dusk, they may be seen on the grassy pastures munching their evening meal. Our wombats dig deep burrows and leave their scat wherever they choose. Wombats have been known to wake artists sleeping in their resdiences at Bundanon, They provide inspiration for all artists, scientists and visitors to the property. They are our unofficial mascot.

Some of our wombats suffer from mange caused by a mite which is spread by feral foxes. Baiting programs are used continually to rid the country of this feral pest. At times, we need to euthanase the wombats due prevent further pain and suffering.
