Juan has been concentrating on new ways to intimate, present and represent notions of an Australian experience. Recognising that this is in no way a new thing to do, Juan has tried to rethink ways of doing this. He has used eucalyptus shadows on figures, remade figures from bound flora and in every way attempted to recreate the sensation of blazing summer heat with paint alone.
Juan believes that a residency at Bundanon would provide many new and hopefully unexpected avenues of research for further paintings.
