Daytime Activities

Homestead and studio visit (1.5 hours)

The Homestead exhibits artworks, books and furniture of the Boyds. Engage in discussions about specific artworks, view changing exhibitions from Bundanon Collection and works by contemporary artists in the Upstairs Gallery, then explore the garden sculptures.

Collection store visit (1 hour)

If the Collection store is not included in your package, you can request a visit.

A significant part of Arthur and Yvonne Boyd’s 1993 gift of Bundanon was an extensive collection of artworks by Arthur Boyd and his family, in addition to works by Sidney Nolan, Brett Whiteley, Joy Hester and Charles Blackman. The Collection today includes contemporary work from previous artists in residence, commissions and generous donations.

Julie Freeman

Evening Activities

Story and String with Galamban (1.5 - 2 hours)

Hear the stories of the South Coast narrated by local Indigenous elder Julie Freeman and daughter Markeeta who make up part of the family business Galamban. After listening to the stories under the stars, participants learn how to twine string made from local plants to weave a necklace or anklet.

Julie Freeman, is a Gorawarl Jerrawongarla woman, is a traditional owner of South Sydney and the South Coast of New South Wales. She comes from Sydney’s local Aboriginal community of La Perouse and is a recognised artist, cultural leader and storyteller.

Wayapa Wuurrk Workshop (1 hour)

Join Wayapa Wuurrk (Wayapa®) practitioner Dharawal woman Jaz Corr who shares ancient Indigenous wisdom that focuses on taking care of the Earth. A practice focussing on harmony with the environment, through a combination of mindfulness, narrative meditation, a series of physical movements. provides a sense of belonging and well-being.

Wayapa Wuurrk & BAMAL [Earth] Art Workshop (2 hours)

Join Wayapa Wuurrk (Wayapa®) practitioner Dharawal woman Jaz Corr who shares ancient Indigenous wisdom that focuses on taking care of the Earth. A practice focussing on harmony with the environment, through a combination of mindfulness, narrative meditation, a series of physical movements. provides a sense of belonging and well-being. A Visual Arts teacher, Jaz Corr explores this connection with students to share contemporary Aboriginal iconography and art practice.

Life Drawing

Life Drawing (1.5 - 2 hours)

Bundanon offers an evening, tutored life drawing activity. In the tradition of life drawing, a private studio setting with a life model is provided, with tutoring by one of the Learning team. The model can be clothed or classically nude, as your school requirements dictate. Participants will use a range of mediums such as graphite, charcoal, pastels, and ink on a variety of papers to create short and longer drawings from a range of poses and angles. All materials are provided.
