Explore and be inspired by the inaugural exhibition at the new Art Museum that draws on the creative energy of experimentation, collaboration, and multi-disciplinary projects.
Museum Season: From impulse to action
January – June 13 2022
Activities for Museum Season
Spark Ideas (1 hour)
Explore the exhibition and critically analyse key works.
Galaxy (2 hours)
Participants experiment with mark-making and layering techniques using a range of media. This workshop will challenge participants to develop expressive techniques that are related to dreams and memories. These explorations can be layered further to create one final work.
More than Monochrome (3 hours)
Participants will create a series of energetic drawings in charcoal or graphite responding to the body in motion. Participants collaborate to develop their drawings, considering lines, marks and gestures.
Reimagining the Seen (3 hours)
Participants will take a series of photos of the landforms and textures within the surrounding environment and create a series of assemblages from found objects. A collaged artwork is developed that reimagines the landscape. Finally, participants will collaborate to bring their individual collages together to create one large group work. Note: Participants will need a digital camera or phone to take the photos.
Extension activities for Museum Season
Designed to deepen the exploration into the theme and completed in the groups own time.
Galaxy: using the same materials and stations from Galaxy, work in groups. Each participant takes it in turns to work on the image surface.
More than Monochrome: students take turns to express movement while the group use large pieces of paper to create a series of quick drawings using exaggerated gestures and marks. Use a variety of tools, including markers and coloured pencil, attach theses to long sticks and experiment with layering.
More than Monochrome: Working in groups, create a collaborative performance work that uses the movement expressed during the drawing sessions of More than Monochrome. Performances can be recorded or performed in a particular place. Bundanon will provide further details about the process during the residential visit.
