PHASMAHAMMER is the pseudonym of shape-shifting artist Justin Talplacido Shoulder. Working primarily in performance, sculpture, video and collective events Phasmahammer is an eco-cosmology of alter personas based on queered ancestral myth. Creatures birthed are embodied through hand crafted costumes and prosthesis and animated by their own gestural languages. The artist uses their body and craft as an instrument of metaphysics towards a queer Filipinx futurism. P.H. believes in performance and shared ceremony as communal medicine for difficult times.

IN RESIDENCE 2020

During his time at Bundanon, Justin Shoulder continued to research and reflect on his current body of work ‘AEON†’. The work was presented as part of Liveworks in October 2020 at Performance Space, Sydney. You can read more here: https://performancespace.com.au/program/aeon-episode-i/

IN RESIDENCE 2014

During his residency at Bundanon, Shoulder worked on the development of ‘Mother Tongue’ a contemporary fable performed as a multidisciplinary theatre work, made in collaboration with Bhenji Ra and with guidance from Victoria Spence.

Shoulder was also in residence at Bundanon in 2010.
