Spanning over 14 years together and from different locations around the globe they have made a practice of mixed media installation, performance, electronic & acoustic music composition and audiovisual production.
Damian Castaldi is a sound and digital media artist currently based in Blackheath, NSW, Australia. Spanning over twenty years his career is built upon a diverse practice that encompasses mixed media installation, performance and audiovisual production. The research focus in his current work is on designing real-time interactive systems using software, sensors, signal processing, new musical instruments and sculptural objects for performance and audio visual installation. Damian has represented Australia in symposium, conferences, performances, radio broadcast and exhibitions in Montréal, Toronto, New York, Chicago, Holland, Barcelona, Paris, Weimar, Liverpool, New Zealand and Tasmania. Within Australia he has worked, exhibited, performed and broadcast in Newcastle, Brisbane, Pekina, Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney.
Solange Kershaw is an electronic artist and composer whose art practice involves exploring different ways of hearing, interpreting and interacting with the world. Her artistic commissions have included ABC radio, the Ensemble Theatre, the Australian Museum, the Sydney Writers Festival, AFTRS, SBS Radio, and many more. Solange also works closely with her partner Damian Castaldi and intheir collaborative practice work extensively with sensor technologies and various hardware/softwares to produce gesture-based interactive sound installations.
Sodacake will experiment, compose and visualise the installations for a solo exhibition as part of the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre’s 2015 Exposé program.
