Australian Handmade/ Designed

Bundanon Artists and Makers Market is calling for artists and makers of high quality, unique and handmade products to sell at a market event at Bundanon. To participate as a vendor in this event, you will need to demonstrate that you will be selling hand-made or your own designed products. If your EOI/application is accepted, the content and quality of the items must remain consistent with your original proposal.

We suggest you look at the Australian Made Campaign via this link: https://australianmade.com.au/

Product Safety

The Vendor is required to always ensure public and personal health and safety. This includes ensuring the safety of your products, and the safety of your market stall display and set up. You are responsible for obtaining applicable licenses/permits for your products where appropriate and must demonstrate your capacity to meet the requirements in your application. Examples of this might include children’s toy safety or tested, certified ingredients for skin care items. If you are unsure your product meets Australian Product Standards, please contact Product Safety Australia via this link: https://www.productsafety.gov.au/

Sales

The Vendor is responsible for the administration of their own sales including applicable sales taxes, banking fees and other costs including insurance Certificate of Currency. There is no ATM on site; the use of mobile Point of Sale readers is recommended.

Price Point

The Vendor will provide Bundanon with an outline of price points in the application process. You are not permitted to use your stand for clearance sales, including changing the displayed price point on the day of the event.

Market Promotion and Artwork Images

Bundanon will be promoting the Bundanon Artist and Maker’s Markets through our main platforms including our website. A diversity of imagery and written content will be selected, and you may be invited to provide Bundanon with further images and written content about your creative practice. By participating in the Bundanon Artists and Makers Market you agree to Bundanon using your provided images for promotional purposes relating to the market.

Insurance

Vendors are required to hold a current Public Liability Certificate to participate in the Bundanon Artists and Makers Market, with coverage of up to 20 million dollars. Vendors are required to hold relevant coverage e.g. if selling Children’s products and skincare products, etc. Insurance documents are required upon acceptance of your offer, or within ten days prior to the BAMM event.

Arrival Times and Set up

There is a limited capacity at the drop off point at Bundanon, and to ensure a smooth flow of traffic Bundanon will implement arrival phases including an overnight accommodation option for Vendors. Bundanon will pre-allocate the stalls to each Vendor. Please note, early arrival will not affect your stall location. Vendors are asked to be mindful of the limited capacity of the drop off point and to only select the early option to drop off and set up if you need a long set up time, which will also be subject to availability.

Change Rooms are not provided by Bundanon. If a change room is required, please indicate this in your application.

Pack up and Exit

Vendors must not pack up their stall until the closing time advertised unless instructed otherwise.
Vendors must remain mindful of the limited capacity at the drop off point as it will impact loading your cars. Because there will be public on-site including visitors who access the drop off point for accessibility purposes, Vendors will be able to load their car after the markets close.

Domestic Animals

Bundanon is a wildlife refuge, and domestic animals are not permitted anywhere on the Bundanon property, including car parks. Registered assistance animals are allowed.

Liability for stock

The Vendor will waive all claims against Bundanon regarding loss or damage of stock.  Vendors are responsible for insurance for any loss or damage to your stock or stall display equipment.

If your application is successful, you will be required to secure your stall by full payment by three weeks before the event. Please refer to Terms and Conditions for information on stall cancellation.

The market stall fee is to be paid in full within two weeks of notification of your successful application to secure your position. Please note that stall holder fees are non-refundable.

In the instance you are unable to attend, you may elect someone to take charge of your market stall. This must be communicated to the event organisers 48 hours prior to the event.

Frequently Asked Questions

BAMM Objectives and Criteria

What does Bundanon expect from its stallholders?

Bundanon Artist and Makers Markets (BAMM) reflects Bundanon’s core values, including Creative Risk, Sustainability, Inclusion and Accountability.

Applications are selected on the quality and suitability of finished work for a public market context. We are looking for high quality, unique products designed or made by Artists and Makers.

Bundanon expects a professional approach to participating in the market and presenting your products. This includes careful reading of all the information provided to you, specifically the terms and conditions; and adherence to directives such as set-up and pack-down instructions.

I make craft items not art, am I eligible?

Applications are open to a broad range of makers such as jewellery makers, textile artists, ceramicists, illustrators, photographers etc. Bundanon is seeking a variety of unique products that offer visitors something special. Please review the Selection Criteria above for clarity on eligibility.

In my application, should I present images of everything that I make, or images of the products that I will bring to BAMM?

It’s best to apply only with images of stock that you plan to bring to BAMM. BAMM receives many applications, particularly for ceramics and jewellery. To set themselves apart, a maker should demonstrate that the work is coherent and appropriate to a culturally engaged audience.

My market stall stock is not made by me, it’s made by another artist. Am I able to sell another person’s stock at Bundanon Artist and Makers Market?

This arrangement needs to be stipulated in the application form. Bundanon Artists and Makers Market would prefer the product creator to be the seller, however we are willing to consider a second staff member, particularly in the case of illness or accessibility challenges.

Can a non-profit organisation participate in Bundanon Artists and Makers Market?

If you can demonstrate that members of the organisation produce distinctive handmade products to sell, you are welcome to apply.

Can I invite another artist to share my stall?

Yes, but full details of a second vendor should be listed as a collaboration applicant, and their products must be included in the application. Each maker must independently meet eligibility and assessment criteria, and you will need to demonstrate a clear connection between the makers’ products that justifies their inclusion together.

Do you allow artist collaborations?

Yes, although relevant details of your collaborative work on a range of products needs to be demonstrated in the application process. All collaborators need to be acknowledged at the point of application.

I am new to the market scene. Can I still apply?

Yes. If you can demonstrate that you have the stock and capacity to hold a market stall, we encourage you to apply. Please note, you will need to submit photos of your proposed stall set-up as part of the application process.

Can I sell food at Bundanon Artists & Makers Markets?

Vendors who apply as food producers can sell packaged food products.

Bundanon will have full catering for this event and is not accepting applications from fresh food operators.

Application Process

Can I make changes to my application after I have submitted it?

No, however, any new information or changes that impact your application can be sent to programs@bundanon.com.au

What type of images should I use for my application. What file type and size?

In your application, please only provide images that accurately represent the work being offered for sale. Images that demonstrate the breadth of your practice will detract from a cohesive range of products.

File size

Jpeg, PNG or PDF files are the best format for uploading images to the application form. Files should be no smaller than 1MB, and no larger than 5MB. 300dpi is the preferred image resolution.

If your application is successful, we may contact you for additional images. In some instances, we may use the images you provided in your application form for promotional purposes.

If I am having trouble loading my information to the application form, is there an alternative application process?

Yes. Please contact the BAMM coordinator at programs@bundanon.com.au

What happens after I apply to participate in the Market?

Selection Process

  • Applications will be submitted to a Selection Panel who will review and score your application according to Bundanon’s Selection Criteria
  • An email will be sent to inform you whether your application was successful, not successful, or held on the wait list
  • You will receive a link to claim your place as a BAMM stallholder, along with confirmation of your stall size, and links to accommodation and food and beverage offerings

  • Your details will be saved on our BAMM mailing list for future market opportunities

If my application is successful, will I need to reapply each time for future BAMM events?

Yes. Each application round for BAMM requires a refreshed application and will go through the selection process each time.

Participating in BAMM

What happens in the case of inclement weather?

A decision is made on the morning of Wednesday before the event if there is concern about inclement weather.

You will be notified only if there are any changes or the cancellation of the BAMM event.

The decision to change or cancel the event is informed mainly by wind conditions.

Intermittent showers or light rain are not considered problematic enough to cancel the BAMM event.

In the case of an event being cancelled, Bundanon will seek another date, or roll your application over to a 2027 BAMM event.

In the case of an event being cancelled, Bundanon will not offer refunds for stall payments. Please see the Terms and Conditions article.

What if I become unwell, can someone else stand in my place and sell my products for me?

It is difficult to predict illness. If you are unwell on the day of the market, you can have someone else take charge of your market stall, but you will need to notify Bundanon at least 48 hours prior to the event.

What if I can no longer participate?

If you are selected for a market stall at Bundanon Art and Makers Market, you will be required to be onsite for the full duration of the event. The market stall fee is to be paid in full to secure your position. Please note stall holder fees are non-refundable.

In the instance you are unable to attend you may elect someone to take charge of your market stall. This must be communicated to the event organisers and approved 48 hours prior to the market.

Do I need Public Liability Insurance to participate?

Yes. A Certificate of Currency showing your Public Liability Insurance for coverage of up to $20 million is required for you to participate in BAMM. Insurance documents must be submitted upon confirmation of your participation, ten days prior to the event at the latest.

Liability for stock

The Vendor will waive all claims against Bundanon regarding loss or damage of stock.  Vendors are responsible for insurance for any loss or damage to your stock or stall display equipment.

How many stallholders does BAMM attract?

BAMM attracts between 50-55 Artist and Makers stalls.

Store Allocation and Set-up

Can I choose my stall allocation?

No. There are many specific reasons why stalls are allocated by BAMM Coordinators.

In the application process, your choice of stall is nominated, and you will have an opportunity to discuss any unique requirements with the BAMM coordinator if your application is successful.

Will there be space on either side of my stall to put small tables, props, or signage?

No. There are strict size limitations, particularly for the trestle table (only) areas. You will be able to specify unique stall set up requirements in the application process and can discuss any unique needs with the BAMM coordinator when your application is successful. This includes signage, flags and banners.

If I book a stall with a back wall, can I attach things to the walls and surrounds?

Maybe. There are a few types of back walls in and around the heritage listed buildings.

Concrete indoors

Concrete outdoors

Slatted wood and glass

Please note: None of these options are appropriate for pins, Blutac or sticky tape. The BAMM coordinator can recommend products (such as 3M products) that can be used on these walls.

You can negotiate your requirements with the BAMM Coordinator as there are ways we can help you plan for:

  • Hanging framed work
  • Hanging heavy items
  • Installing lighting or lighting products
  • Signage

Please note: Installation requirements need to be discussed immediately after your application is successful.

What equipment can Bundanon supply?

All trestle table bookings include one (only) trestle table and a seat. Stallholders booking a marquee are expected to provide their own equipment, although (extra) trestles can be hired from Bundanon for marquees only.

You can also request:

  • Disability accessibility
  • Electricity
  • Access to water
  • Black backing screens
  • Extra seat
  • Specific locations to protect or enhance your stock (shade, light filled)

Social Media and Marketing

Will my images be used for promotional purposes?

If your application is successful, we may contact you to seek permission to use your images for BAMM marketing purposes, including images you provided in your application form for promotional purposes.

What promotion does Bundanon offer the stallholder?

Bundanon has a Marketing team who manage the BAMM webpage and schedule promotion through the Bundanon Website, social media platforms, newsletters, and a range of other media opportunities.

Successful applicants may be contacted to set up Instagram collaborations.

Will there be a professional photographer?

Yes. For each BAMM event, Bundanon hires a professional photographer, and images are taken for future BAMM purposes. If you don’t wish to have your photo taken, or photos of your stock, you can let the BAMM coordinator know prior to the event.
