Bundanon

Bundanon is an accessible site and is committed to providing inclusive programs to all audiences.

Bundanon is many things. An art museum embedded in the landscape. A wildlife sanctuary set on 1000 hectares and a gift to the Australian people. The vast array of experiences at this South Coast art destination means every visitor’s journey here will be different.

GETTING HERE

Bundanon has two separate sites:

 

The Art Museum Site Featuring the award-winning Art Museum, Bridge and Boyd Education Centre, a Boyd Collection display in the heritage Library cottage and Ramox Café.

The Homestead & Arthur Boyd’s Studio Featuring the historical and social history of Bundanon, and the story of the Boyd Family, including a display of key works from the Bundanon Collection.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

There is no complete public transport routes to Bundanon and the site is a 30 minute drive from the closest train station in Bomaderry. Please plan your visit accordingly and organise private transport if you choose to visit via train. To view more train transport information visit Transport NSW here.

PHYSICAL ACCESS AND FACILITIES

All parking at Bundanon is unmetered. The Art Museum and Homestead sites are both wheelchair accessible.

There are two designated accessible parking spaces available outside the Bridge and Art Museum as well as accessible drop/pickup zones in the same area directly outside the museum.

The Homestead site is accessed via an unsealed road and has one designated accessible parking space. Visitors are advised that the pathways at the Homestead are unsealed and can be somewhat uneven.

DOGS

Bundanon welcomes guide dogs, hearing dogs and assistance animals on site. Visitors are advised that the site is also a wildlife refuge, and domestic animals are not permitted.

HIDDEN DISABILITIES

Bundanon supports growing awareness of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program. Staff who have been trained to support visitors with hidden disabilities will wear a sunflower badge. Visitors are also encouraged to wear a sunflower lanyard, if they wish.

ART MUSEUM

A carer or person who supports a visitor with disability or frailty is admitted free to paid exhibitions.

The Art Museum is fully accessible and resources are available during each exhibition season. Please visit the exhibition webpage for more information on the current exhibition and for useful resources, including a Sensory Map.

HOMESTEAD AND ARTHUR BOYD’S STUDIO

Arthur Boyd’s Studio is wheelchair accessible and the ground floor of the Homestead is accessible via wheelchair. Please inform staff of your visit for use of a small ramp for access to the Homestead. There is a staircase inside the Homestead and uneven ground in the visitor carpark and throughout the site. There is seating available across the site, limited seating inside the Homestead kitchen and there is mobile seating available from staff during your visit for use within the Homestead.

Please inform Bundanon’s friendly staff should you require any accessibility assistance during your visit.

ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE

Bundanon is committed to ensuring accessibility for both our Artists in Residence program and the Artists in Residence Complex. We strive to accommodate all needs to the best of our ability. For more detailed information, please visit the Artists in Residence Access page.

Please note that the Artists in Residence Complex is not open to the public.

 

TOILETS AND CARERS FACILITIES

Wheelchair accessible toilets with parents’ facilities are located on both the Art Museum and Homestead sites in the following locations:

Art Museum – Inside the Art Museum foyer, next to the front desk. The entire building is at ground level. This accessible toilet also has a baby change table.

Information Office – In the information office building. This accessible toilet also has a baby change table.

Heritage Library Cottage – In the heritage Library cottage, there is an accessible toilet to the right of the library entrance.

Homestead – A separate toilet block upon entering the Homestead property, with an accessible ramp and bathroom.
