Using an interdisciplinary practice Madeleine creates installations that consist of paintings and “plush” sculptures that interact with one another through formal characteristics of colour, shape and texture. Madeleine engages with the tradition of abstraction with the emphasis placed on ambiguity of subject and the material synergies explored between paint and textiles. Madeleine hopes to use her time at Bundanon to reflect upon the relationship between the natural environments of Australia and Canada. Over the past two years she has been identifying similarities and differences between the experience of space, colour and climate of North America and Australia.
