Timothy Meakins

Art Form: Visual Art

Residency Year: 2026

Lives / Works: Pilbara

Tim Meakins is an Artist and Designer from Perth, currently based in the Pilbara, Western Australia.

Working across sculpture, painting, print, animation and publishing, he employs a visual grammar drawn from the history (and present) of computer graphics/operating systems and cartoons to create intensely energetic propositions around the ever-mutating forms, limits, plasticity, optical register and possibilities of digital and analogue states-of-being.

A core part of his practice is the active exchange between digital tools and physical fabrication. He works with Virtual Reality drawing, 3D modelling, technical drafting, and animation, then brings these forms into the physical world through 3D printing and industrial construction. This movement between the hand and the machine shapes investigations into identity, humour, failure, and physicality.

In Residence at Bundanon

I plan to develop a body of work that forms the foundation for a future project exploring the relationship between technology, the body, and the environments we inhabit. The work considers how digital tools can create distance from intimacy and embodied experience. In a time dominated by screens, this residency offers space to step away from computers and return to hand drawing, thinking, and rest. I aim to reconnect with presence, care, and the human body in space, marking a meaningful shift in my approach to making.
