William Yang is a Queensland-born, Sydney-based photographer whose significant contributions to Australian photography spans over five decades. Known for his reflective and joyous depictions of Australia’s queer scene in the 1970s and 1980s through to the present, Yang’s photography is informed by the cultural and political pressures of growing up as a gay man from a Chinese immigrant family in north Queensland.
Yang’s documentary photography encompasses explorations of cultural and sexual identities and depictions of landscape. His photographic practice is integrated with writing, video, and performance, and is grounded in narrative and storytelling.
Internationally award-winning modern re-telling of an ancient myth.
A lad lives half way up a historic hill.
A teenager is on a road trip to the city in a stolen car.
A boy is driving a chariot, pulling the sun across the sky.
A story about life and about the invisible monuments we build to it.

“A much needed reminder of the irresistible power of stories to unite us’” – THE LIST
Since the 1970s, Bonita Ely’s practice has examined environmental, feminist and sociopolitical issues through diverse media including performance, photography and installation.
In conversation with Sophie O’Brien, Head of Curatorial and Learning, Bonita will share stories from her feminist and environmentally charged practice, over a delicious meal designed in collaboration between the artist and Bundanon’s Executive Chef Douglas Innes-Will.
On this walk, you will be guided by Diego across the property to learn about the abundance of common edible and medicinal plants that could be in your own backyard!
The knowledge Diego acquired growing up led him to focus on new ways to share botanical literacy with his audiences and to reconnect communities. To tell the story of plants is his passion, with Diego now running public and private workshops every week, collaborating extensively with chefs, herbalists, environmentalists and cultural workers to promote a new understanding of what the environment has to offer and to enable conversations around belonging, sustainability and agency, while eating food.
