Drawing From Nature

Erica Seccombe

Look closer. Consider the changing nature of plants across the seasons, using observational drawing techniques and microscopes to explore broader understandings of plant life at Bundanon. This workshop responds to the concept of ‘plant blindness’ and reveals connections between local weather and Bundanon’s flora.

Erica Seccombe’s interdisciplinary arts practice spans from traditional lens-based imaging, print media and drawing, to experimental digital platforms using frontier scientific visualisation software. A continuing theme in her work is the complex relationship humans have with nature and our natural environments, whether through social, cultural, or technological factors. Seccombe’s practice articulates her own experience and concerns at this time of uncertainty where human activity has had a dominant influence on the environment and climate.
