Mimi Kelly's artwork is fictitious performative photographic self-portraiture. Her practice has sought to explore the complex realm of duplicitous representation of femininity in the contemporary context (popular culture and mass media), and the ongoing validity of multifarious responses that offer a more comprehensive navigation of this as creator, subject and viewer. It is a contentious field that draws passionate and divisive responses due to multiple contributing factors - not least personal ethics.
At Bundanon she will continue her photographic ‘sketches’.
