Olivia De La Mare

Art Form: Research

Residency Year: 2026

Lives / Works: Blue Mountains, NSW Colomatta - land of the Gundungurra and Dharug people

Olivia De La Mare is a Postgraduate Research ecologist at the University of Technology Sydney.

Her work focuses on native reptile conservation in the fire-prone landscapes of the Blue Mountains National Park. She values accessible science, and aims to communicate her work to an audience that is wider than the academic community, and to reduce the stigma around reptiles and other misconceived groups. Her current work is supported by Australian Government Research Training Program Scholarships.

In Residence at Bundanon

During her time in residence, Olivia will be working on a project partnered with WIRES (Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service). She will be looking at human and faunal interactions at the urban-wildland interface. This work aims to strengthen partnerships that will help protect native species as human populations continue to grow and evolve, and hopes to help educate on the importance of protecting native animals in urbanised spaces.
