Glenn Murcutt

Glenn Murcutt AO, the architect responsible for designing Bundanon’s Arthur and Yvonne Boyd Education Centre received the 2009 American Institute of Architects' Gold Medal. Murcutt becomes the 65th AIA Gold Medalist, joining previous winners Thomas Jefferson, Frank Lloyd Wright, Louis Sullivan, LeCorbusier, Louis Kahn, I.M. Pei, Cesar Pelli, Edward Larrabee Barnes and 2008 winner Renzo Piano.

Murcutt, who works exclusively in Australia, was recognised by the AIA Board of Directors as continuing to have a profound impact on architecture around the world. This is not the first time that Murcutt’s work has been internationally recognised. In 2002 he was awarded the Pritzker Prize, architecture's equivalent of the Nobel Prize.

The Boyd Education Centre, designed in association with Reg Lark and Wendy Lewin was one of the buildings cited in his award.

GLENN MURCUTT MASTERCLASS

The annual Glenn Murcutt Masterclass is held at Bundanon Trust’s Riversdale property. Every year 32 architects from around the globe spend a week in residence at Riversdale, being mentored by Glenn Murcutt and Australia's finest architects, Richard Leplastrier, Peter Stutchbury, Brit Anderson and Lindsay Johnston.
