Menna McAlpin is an emerging jeweller from Naarm (Melbourne).

They graduated Melbourne Polytechnic in 2023 with an Advance Diploma of Jewellery and Object Design and is a current Associate at JamFactory in Adelaide. They have always loved making things with their hands and are inspired by magic in the mundane, queerness and fluidity of identity.

“I utilise my practice to represent my inner world to the outer. I am driven by a deep desire to share how nature, being queer, and my life experiences have shaped the lens through which I see the world.”

In Residence at Bundanon

I have a dance and movement background, and the body is often a starting point for my works. This background informs my fascination with the interplay between our bodies and the environments we live in; how we shape and are shaped by them. Bundanon will allow me to begin new work focussing on these interactions between body and environment, connect with other artists and evaluate my practice. I hope the experience aids a deepening of my experimental process and that the change in environment will inspire new conceptual ideation.

Menna is the recipient of the 2025 JamFactory Artist Residency at Bundanon.
