Book

Rachel returns to Make Good Festival after her sold-out workshop last year to explore how even the smallest offcuts can become something special.

Using simple hand-tools, participants will carve a butter knife or pickle fork from reclaimed timber collected from cabinetmakers, old furniture, and salvaged doors materials that might otherwise be discarded.

Working slowly and thoughtfully, this workshop offers a gentle introduction to hand carving, revealing how beauty and function can emerge from the humblest pieces of wood.

Featuring

Rachel Shaw, from Waiting For Spring, is a wood carver and instructor based on the NSW South Coast.

A former interior designer, Rachel turned to carving in 2018 to find calm in a chaotic world and to teach others how carving can bring quiet to busy lives. Working mainly with salvaged and reclaimed wood, Rachel transforms discarded materials into tactile, collectable pieces.
