Brad Lay

Art Forms: Photography, Visual Art

Residency Year: 2014

Lives / Works: Australia

Since 2009 Brad Lay’s work has been concerned with a broad spanning investigation of the ocean, its’ cultural, ecological and philosophical attributes and the points of connection between these attributes. Lay’s works ask the viewer to consider their relationship with, and knowledge of the ocean.

Lay’s residency in 2009 gave him the opportunity to explore and draw upon the local environment (the Pacific Ocean & Shoalhaven River) to develop new work. He investigated the contemporary, personal importance of intense, sublime experiences resulting from immersion in non-human environments.
