Elyse Howe

Art Form: Visual Art

Residency Year: 2022

Lives / works: Naarm, Melbourne.

Elyse Howe (b. Perth 1986) is an Australian artist. Howe has participated in group shows and installations at 107 Gallery in Redfern, Articulate Project Space in Leichardt, Canberra Museum and Art Gallery, and Ainslie and Gorman House in Canberra and presented at the Digital Intimacies 6 conference.

In residence at Bundanon

During the residency, Howe will develop the iterative Memorial series that considers the cultural logic of locating oneself in time, space and physical geography, through the naturalism of the photograph. In the series Howe attempts to generate encounters that suggest a plurality of unknown and unknowable histories through installations that resemble worn out memorials, that imply some institutional significance, with recognisable properties; but where any broader significance remains unclear. The dedicated space, time and cultural context of the residency period and location are hoped to be generative in the process-driven experimentation undertaken in the development of the work.
