Lives and works: the Country of the Dharug and Gundungurra peoples, Blackheath, NSW

Isabelle Li has published in various anthologies and literary journals including The Best Australian Stories, Southerly, Westerly and UTS Writers’ Anthology. Her collection of short stories A Chinese Affair was published by Margaret River Press in 2016. Her translations have appeared in Sydney Review of Books and Mascara.

In residence 2021

Li is the recipient of the 2021 inaugural Mascara Bundanon Writers’ Residency.

During her residence, Li will be working on a novella that tells the story of a carer and an elderly man, each dealing with their own grief during COVID-19 lockdown in China.

Bundanon acknowledges the people of the Dharawal and Dhurga language groups as the traditional owners of the land within our boundaries, and recognises their continuous connection to culture, community and Country.

In Dharawal the word Bundanon means deep valley.
