Pamela Freeman is an award-winning author for both adults and children. Her last historical novel, The Black Dress, won the NSW Premier’s History Prize, and is now in its third edition. Pamela is also well known for her fantasy novels for adults, (published by Hachette Livre/Orbit Books worldwide), the Castings Trilogy and Ember and Ash (Aurealis Award winner for Best Fantasy Novel).

During her residency, Pamela worked on an historical novel ‘Lanterns on the Nile’, which tells the story of Evelyn Northey, a nurse in the British hospital in Cairo during World War I.
