Residency Year: 2026

Lives / Works: Regine Schwarzer Adelaide Hills - Peramangk Country

Regine Schwarzer and Nataša Milenović are German-trained goldsmiths whose practices explore materiality, craftsmanship, and relationships to the natural world. Both grew up in Bavaria, Germany, and first connected in 1999 when Nataša worked in Regine’s studio in South Australia.

Although their practices developed independently over subsequent decades, a shared interest in gold and metalsmithing techniques continues to inform their work.

Schwarzer’s practice draws inspiration from mineral, botanical, and landscape formations, engaging with themes of symbolism, hybridity, mythology, and spirituality through objects and jewellery. Her work reflects an ongoing investigation into transformation and material narrative.
Based in Lutruwita/Tasmania, Nataša Milenović works intuitively, shaping jewellery and objects through forging, fabrication, and patination. Her process-led approach emphasises material responsiveness and making as a form of inquiry. The artists reconnected to collaborate at the Radiant Pavilion Contemporary Jewellery and Object Biennial(2024), marking the renewal of a shared creative partnership grounded in dialogue, experimentation, and mutual exchange.

In Residence at Bundanon

Living in different states, the residency at Bundanon provides a rare opportunity for us to work together on site. We plan to engage in both individual and collaborative making, research, and experimentation, drawing inspiration from the surrounding landscape. Through walking, observing, journalling, drawing, and prototyping, we will explore the concepts of migration and seeds as catalysts for new work. Access to the Dorothy Dwyer Silversmiths’ Studio will allow us to scale up our practice, expanding our material language beyond metal to include wax, clay, paper, wood, and found objects, while deepening our shared creative dialogue.
