Gabi Harris

Art Form: Jewellery/Silversmith

Residency Year: 2026

Lives / Works: Melbourne / Naarm

Gabi Harris is an emerging French-Australian contemporary jeweller based on Kombumerri Land, the Gold Coast

Her process driven practice, shaped by a background in photography, prioritises purity of form and spatial construction. She investigates form using a restrained palette and contrasting surfaces, creating emotional depth through repetition and material ambiguity. Ongoing experimentation, informed by cross-cultural experiences, has led to the development of a strong abstracted aesthetic that blends biomorphic and geometric forms.

Gabi is currently completing a Master of Visual Arts at Queensland College of Art and Design, Griffith University, and has participated in many group exhibitions including being a finalist in the National Contemporary Jewellery Award 2024 and Contemporary Wearables 2025.

In Residence at Bundanon

I will respond to Bundanon’s unique natural environment, aiming to investigate how landscape influences form and meaning, and how cultural identity shapes ways of seeing and making. As someone who inhabits multiple cultural perspectives, I am particularly interested in how place can be respectfully interpreted through inherited visual languages. I’m looking to evoke atmosphere through form and texture, abstracting encounters with the site while exploring how contemporary jewellery can translate lived experience and memory into materially grounded, site-responsive forms.
