Dr Steven Tonkin is a curator based in Melbourne. Tonkin completed his PhD at the Australian National University in 2010. His research examined the importance of artists’ books and publications within international Conceptualism and Australian Post-Object practice, and addressed their role in establishing a new field of contemporary Australian artists’ books.

During his residency at Bundanon, Tonkin worked towards completing his manuscript on Australian conceptual and post-object artists’ books, consolidating over 10 years worth of research material.

Bundanon acknowledges the people of the Dharawal and Dhurga language groups as the traditional owners of the land within our boundaries, and recognises their continuous connection to culture, community and Country.

In Dharawal the word Bundanon means deep valley.
