Residency Year: 2019

Lives / Works: Australia

Tanya Vavilova is an emerging writer preoccupied with liminal spaces and outsider perspectives—by life on the margins.

During Vavilova’s stay at Bundanon, she worked on the structural edits for ‘We are Speaking in Code’. This series of essays drew on lived experience of mental illness, difference and deviance, weaving together personal anecdotes, interviews, trauma studies and social research. The book was published by Brio in March 2020.
