THEATRE KANTANKA is a company that works across artforms, seeking innovation in theatrical presentation. Kantanka operates with a core creative team that expands to incorporate the talents of visiting artists who collaborate on a project-by-project basis. ‘Missing the Bus to David Jones’ was developed through research and consultation into Aged Care facilities in Sydney, and investigating ageing, dementia and death in contemporary society.

Whilst in residence at Bundanon, Theatre Kantanka worked on a performance/sound installation based on the book “The Obscene Madam D” by acclaimed Brazilian writer Hilda Hilst.

Theatre Kantanka were also in residence in 2018, 2013 and 2011.

Bundanon acknowledges the people of the Dharawal and Dhurga language groups as the traditional owners of the land within our boundaries, and recognises their continuous connection to culture, community and Country.

In Dharawal the word Bundanon means deep valley.
