Tilman Robinson

Tilman Robinson

Art Form: Sound/Music

Residency Year: 2026

Lives / Works: Melbourne

Tilman Robinson is a composer, producer and sound designer.

He creates dark ambient and maximalist electro-acoustic music drawing from a wide musical palette. Tilman’s diverse output focuses on the psychological impact of dense sound incorporating acousmatics and psychoacoustic principles. His music ranges from drone heavy ambient meditations, to pointillistic flurries of electronically altered acoustic sound, to rich immersive field recordings.

Tilman has released several albums and has worked extensively as a cross art-form collaborator for well over a decade. He is one of the most in-demand creative professionals in his field, having contributed scores and sound design to innumerable artworks, events, films and television.

In residence at Bundanon

During this residency, Tilman will step back from his vast array of collaborative projects to focus on an unfinished body of solo and duo recorded works. These include collaborative projects with musicians Aviva Endean, Matthias Schack-Arnott and Freya Schack-Arnott as well as with visual and projection artist Carla Zimbler. With solo development time at a premium in Tilman’s practice, this opportunity to focus on longstanding unfinished works will allow for the completion and release of two new albums. Bundanon’s unique setting will also allow for an opportunity to continue Tilman’s practice of field recordings of diverse Australian natural environments.
