Spend an evening connecting with Bundanon at night. Issues of climate change and light pollution will be explored through knowledge sharing and working together with light and photography to create a collective work. Bring a photo of where you are from to help us start our storytelling. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes and bring a torch and camera (or a device with these features). The workshop will commence after dusk (approximately 7pm) and run for approximately 1.5 hours. A short evaluation survey will be conducted on the night.

Daytime Activities

Story and String with Galamban (1.5 – 2 hours)

Story and String with Galamban (1.5 – 2 hours)

We at Galamban have a lifetime of knowledge to share. This knowledge has passed down through generations of our people and we continue to offer these unique experiences on our Country.

Hear the stories of the South Coast narrated by local Indigenous elder Julie Freeman and daughter Markeeta, from Galamban. After listening to the stories under the stars, participants learn how to twine string made from local plants to weave a necklace or anklet.

Julie Freeman is a Gorawarl Jerrawongarla woman, a traditional owner of South Sydney and the South Coast of New South Wales. She comes from Sydney’s Aboriginal community of La Perouse and is a recognised artist, cultural leader and storyteller.

$25 per person

Looking at Landscape (1 - 1.5 hours)

Looking at Landscape (1 – 1.5 hours)

Participants will explore artworks that examine interpretations of landscape, visiting Arthur Boyd’s Studio, Brook Andrew’s Caravans and Treelines Track by Janet Laurence. If available, an Artist in Residence will speak about the influences of being outside and at Bundanon on their current art practice.

Your school can book Looking at Landscapes as an extra activity during your own program time on the final day of your visit. Your school will need to organise your bus to pick you up early from the accommodation, drive to Arthur Boyd studio site, wait for you there and leave from that site. If you leave from this site, Bundanon will make sure you have a packed lunch to take with you.

$30 per person
