Arthur’s Story
Talk Series

A three-part journey into one of Australia’s greatest artistic minds.

Join us in the newly opened Boyd Collection Gallery for a captivating three-part talk series exploring the life, work, and legacy of iconic Australian artist Arthur Boyd.

Part One

23 November, 11am | Anna Glynn

Anna Glynn worked alongside Boyd at Bundanon in the early 1990s. In this talk, Anna will share personal stories and insights into Boyd’s practice during one of the most prolific stages of his career.

Anna Glynn is a Dharawal based, award winning Australian artist who has a passion for investigating the complex relationships between humans, history, nature, land, place, physical and ephemeral.  Glynn worked for an extensive period with Arthur Boyd at Bundanon in 1993. In this time, she created a large series of works. During painting expeditions into the bush with Arthur, large canvasses were tied to trees and propped with fallen branches. Glynn was there while Boyd painted some of his most iconic Shoalhaven paintings, right here at Bundanon.

Part Two

14 December, 2pm | Warwick Keen

Contemporary artist Warwick Keen reflects on the influence and impact of Arthur Boyd’s practice in the Shoalhaven.

Warwick Keen has been a practicing artist for over 40 years and first started his exploration into Aboriginal Art at the age of 25, when he completed an Associate Diploma in Creative Arts @ MCAE in Bathurst. Keen has worked mainly in the mainstream genre before transitioning to painting and carved wooden poles that incorporate his own contemporary representation of the once traditional art of log carving (Dendroglyphs).

Part Three

18 January, 2pm | Professor Ian McLean

Hear from Professor Ian McLean on Bundanon’s new Boyd Collection Gallery as he explores the impact and influence of Arthur Boyd’s work on the wider Australian art scene and artists.

Ian McLean, now retired, is the inaugural Hugh Ramsay Chair of Australian Art History at the University of Melbourne (2017–2024). He has published extensively on Australian art and particularly Indigenous art. His books include Double Nation A History of Australian Art (2023), Rattling Spears A History of Indigenous Australian Art (2016) Double Desire: Transculturation and Indigenous art (2014); How Aborigines Invented the Idea of Contemporary Art (2011); White Aborigines Identity Politics in Australian Art (1998); and The Art of Gordon Bennett (with a chapter by Gordon Bennett, 1996).
