Immerse yourself in the landscape that inspired Arthur Boyd and generations of artists through our series of artmaking workshops.

Led by professional artists, each workshop offers a fresh opportunity to connect with Bundanon’s environment. Explore a variety of materials, techniques, and approaches as guest artists share their unique creative practice.

Open to all levels and abilities, whether you’re trying something new or expanding your creative practice. All materials are provided.

ANH NGUYEN

Anh Nguyen lives and paints from Dharawal Country/Thirroul on the NSW South Coast. She was recently awarded the Maldon Emerging Artist Portrait Prize 2025 and was the recipient of the Lyn McCrea Memorial Drawing Prize 2020 and the Basil Sellers Art Award 2018.

Join her for a hands-on soft pastel drawing workshop, exploring the expressive possibilities of this richly pigmented medium. You’ll experiment with layering, smudging, and mark-making, simplifying forms into bold shapes and harmonious blocks of colour to transform detail into powerful, lyrical compositions.

MICHELLE CAWTHORN

Saturday 6 December

Michelle Cawthorn engages with meditative processes of repetitive mark making to examine themes related to identity, place, and familial relationships.

In this workshop, Michelle will show you how to work with pen, ink, and ink wash to make tonal drawings of the Homestead and surrounds using a hatching technique. Participants will be encouraged to respond to the natural environment at Bundanon, and consider areas of visual interest and tonal contrast that build an expressive drawing based on your experience of the site.

GINA BRUCE

Saturday 14 February

Gina Bruce is known for her evocative and introspective works spanning drawing and painting in watercolour, ink, acrylic, oil and egg tempera. A graduate of the National Art School, Bruce’s practice explores the intersection of memory and landscape.

In this workshop, Gina will guide you to closely observe your surroundings and respond to the landscape through expressive mark-making with watercolour and ink. You will learn practical techniques for working en plein air, from choosing a viewpoint to creating quick compositional thumbnails in your sketchbook.
