Join native bee enthusiast Alison Mellor for an engaging, hands-on workshop exploring the fascinating world of bees up close.

From fluffy Teddy Bear Bees to crafty Leafcutter Bees and cheeky Domino Cuckoo Bees, the South Coast is alive with native pollinators. Learn how to attract and support these native bees in your own garden through thoughtful plant choices, habitat creation, and simple care practices. Taste rare native stingless bee honey and observe a live colony in action.

Ideal for gardeners of all levels, this interactive experience will inspire you to cultivate a thriving, bee-friendly outdoor space. Each participant takes home a bee-attracting plant to begin their journey.

Alison Mellor is a nature writer, environmental educator, science engagement specialist, and native bee advocate. Fascinated by science from a young age, she earned a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Human Geography from the University of Wollongong in 2005. Over nearly two decades, Alison has managed environmental education programs for councils, state government, NGOs, and independently, including Sustainable Shellharbour and the Sydney Science Trail. She delivers hands-on environmental education with a focus on Australian native bees, co-leads the citizen science project Bug Hunt with Invertebrates Australia, and works in local government as an Environmental Engagement and Education Officer. Alison lives and creates on Dharawal Country, acknowledging the Traditional Custodians.
