Do we silence each other in the name of collaboration? Philosopher Dr Simon Longstaff AO challenges conventional wisdom in this provoking talk about what we risk when we collaborate.
Collaboration has not always been considered a virtue. Throughout history there have been times when those identified as collaborators would be humiliated (or worse). Shunned by their community, they would be condemned for having colluded with evil – an occupying power, a heretical idea, an ‘alien’ presence.
These days, we are urged to collaborate wherever possible. But what happens when collaboration devolves into conformity? Do we silence dissent?
Philosopher and author Dr Simon Longstaff AO invites us to question the virtue of collaboration and challenges the assumptions we make today about agreement and dissent.
