Dennis Barber better known as Den to his friends, is a descendant of the Traditional Aboriginal People of Mudgee in Wiradjuri Country. His work reflects on his cultural connection to Country, fusing together a unique artistic style with influence of intricate Aboriginal design patterns burnt on kangaroo skins by his cultural Uncles.

Barber used his residency to further develop his work with natural materials, to create new intricate drawings and to produce artefacts patterned with delicate designs.

Bundanon acknowledges the people of the Dharawal and Dhurga language groups as the traditional owners of the land within our boundaries, and recognises their continuous connection to culture, community and Country.

In Dharawal the word Bundanon means deep valley.
